We are a nation built on immigration (and of which many were barbaric), we had the Beaker people first at around 3 million B.C; then came the Celts (Urnfields and Hallsatts) around 400 B.C; then came the Roman Empire who came and went for around 400 years from 55 B.C onwards; then the Anglo's, Saxons and Jutes came; Vikings came around 750A.D; the Norman invasion of 1066 (you surely know about that?); the Romani people came in after that; Huguenots came around the 16th century; many Blacks started to take up residence in London after the American Civil War, and that brings us up to the Industrial Age, when we started to actively promote migration to our shores for economic reasons. |

I am from India. Despite the past history, I believe that the British are by far the most civilised and there is rule of law in Britain. In this site,http://www.malaysianbar.org.my/opinions/comments/this_is_our_country.html please read the comments of one, Siti Zabedah Kasim, to the article of a Malaysian living in UK comparing the status of the Muslims in UK and the minorities in Malaysia. The comments terms the comparison as sheer rubbish. I agree that the British laws treat all alike and wherever the Muslims are in majority they do not allow any other shade of opinion to crop up and leave alone the right to preach and propagate other religions. I think for the present state of affairs where the British lose their patience and tolerance for the other cultures, the Muslims are responsible. |

No I am not. Britain need to tighten up the immigration laws. Too many people getting let in, just here to beg and live off the state. I blame the government not the people who come cause who wouldnt come if they had the chance. The government need to tighten up their laws. |

It all went wrong when we let the Angles and Saxons in. There are barbaric cultures all over the world - it doesn't necessarily mean that everyone is barbaric.
In the UK we have a subculture who support the BNP, read the Sun and drink too much lager. If it wasn't for our laws, you'd be out murdering anyone who doesn't agree with you. I'd prefer Sharia to yob culture any day. |

Personally I like people from other cultures in London. It opens your mind; even if you don't agree with someone else's ethics, we can still learn from them. They probably think our laws are pointless. In any case, what do you propose we do?

Not at al happy- leaving aside issues of space and resources there are some immigrants who clearly have difficulty in intergrating into a western liberal democracy. The most obvious is the Somali community who come from a society that disinter grated into warring tribal factions decades a go. Sadly, the levels of crime and unemployment amongst Somalis is very high. One can only conclude that Europe as a whole needs to look very carefully who it accepts as refugees and immigrants. |

So long as they don't practice any of the barbaric and extreme aspects of their culture after they arrive here, I have no problem.
That includes going abroad in order to do things that we find barbaric.
Luckily no-one is advocating changing the law to allow barbaric cultural practices, contrary to what the more irrisponsible aspects of the press dishonestly misinterpret people as saying. |

I don't mind the barbaric ways that they treat criminals and am all for sharia law for the immigrants that think they can come to Britain to escape it....after all they know that if they commit a crime here they are more likely to be rewarded for it rather than lose a limb or their head!! I think that if they commit a crime here they should be fast tracked back to their country for the law to be taken there it'll save the tax payers a bundle instead of having to keep this scum alive!!!!! |

there is a very old saying " when on rome do as the romans do" we should adapt this for these people who are allowed into our country, but most of these people don`t even try to learn english, never mind abide by our laws, mind saying that some of our laws are a joke made by do gooders who live in ivory towers, and have no idea what the real world is, but who is going to change that? you? me? |

yes i am saddened by reports of stonings and stabbings in any part of the world including the UK.
the black on black stabbings have nothing to do with Sharia Law. Sharia Law is to do with muslims which is not what most Black people in Britain are. Completely separate issue.
On the one hand you describe our law system as wishy washy, but on the other you say that you disagree with the death penalty (ie a murderer being stabbed) - which is it you want?
you seem confused and i would suggest that you read up on these topics a little more (and no The Sun or The Daily Mail do not count) so that you understand a bit more about what your saying. |

We all reject the appaling abuses of human rights that you mention but what has it got to do with race, religion or nationality. Just because someone comes from a certain country, it doesn't mean that they somehow carry the law's of that country around with them. By your argument, because we live in a country governed by the labour party, the world should recognise you as a labour voter, which somehow I dont think that you are (my guess would be British NAZI party!).
Surely it is wrong to stone anyone wherever it happens and what on earth is this rubish about black on black stabbings ? you are just making this nonsense up and it sickens me that this kind of offensive propeganda has a voice on this site. I am 100% with you.Our country will not accept Sharia Law
the people who come here & want to live under that law & that includes the ones who have been born here,Should go to the country there parents come from & live there for 10 years think that will be enough to turn them against the law.
The terrible thing is the countries that have the sharia law the people live in fear to the point they trust no one in there own country or of there own religion. |
