As a victim of armed robbery, can I sue?

Alright, so earlier today, while at work, a guy came in, pulled a gun on us (me, and 2 other guys) and robbed us, after he walked out, my manager hit all the panic buttons we've got and none of them worked, about half an hour later we ended up calling the police to get them out there, also, the security guard who's assigned to our shopping center walked by a minute after the guy left, and didn't even glance inside. The robber pointed the gun at me, and one of the other guys who was working with me, the other guy pointed out that the district manager was being so nice to us because we had grounds to sue either the company, or the owner/operator of the strip mall, or possibly the security company, is he right? And if so, what exactly would we need to go for?
We both think there might be a chance that because the panic equipment wasn't functional, at a store in a high-crime area, that might be a big part of the case, but I wasn't sure

What you need to do is this:
1.) Find a lawyer.
2.) Pay a consulting fee.
3.) Get some legal advice.

Like other people on here who keep asking law-related questions, you're not going to get an answer directly applicable to your situation. Why? Because every jurisdiction has different laws, be it statutory or common law. You're going to have to talk to a practicing lawyer in your respective jurisdiction to see if you have a valid cause of action to pursue.

I would think what answers you get on a forum like this wouldn't be helpful to you. First, a majority of people answering questions on this forum probably aren't licensed to practice law; second, when it comes to legal advice, you get what you pay for. So just find a lawyer in your area and have a sit-down.

And if you're complaining that paying a lawyer would be too expensive, well, I guess you're not really that intent to sue now, are you?

No! you can't sue the company or the property owner because someone robbed the store that you work at

its too bad that that happened to you but get real, besides what would you sue for? emotional stress caused by someone else

I don't think so. You would probably only be able to go after the manufacturer of the panic button, but truthfully that would not only take a long time and process to go through, but cost a bundle to get represented by. Though you might be able to get pain and suffering or something like that. You never know! I would most likely contact a lawyer in your case to get advice.
