Bench warrant for failure to appear?

i live in Cali but i have a bench warrant from another state,NY,for failure to appear in bankruptcy court because i'm being sued by a collection agency as a last ditch attempt to get me to repay money i owe the college i went to.It wasn't a federal student loan,just money i owe the college.will i be extradited if i'm pulled over and how does extradition work?will i be sent back to cali once its all said and done?

There is likely more to your story than what you write here. Bankruptcy is a civil matter not a criminal matter. If you are being sued by someone you owe money to and don't appear in Court they do not issue warrants they simply issue a summary judgement.

Essentially, they find for the plaintiff in your absence and then the plaintiff now has a judgement that will allow them to pursue other remedies such as wage garnishment.

So, my question to you is "Do you know there is a warrant?" Or "Do you just assume there is one because you failed to appear?"

If you know for a fact a warrant has been issued, then you are in more serious trouble than a civil court. It means you are being accused of committing a crime.
