i really need home internet at the moment but they only provide 12+months contracts
my problem is that i only have 4 months left on my housing contract where i will then be moving house, into a shared accommodation which already has the net.
Customer service advised me that if i were to break my contract early then i would be liable to pay the full 12months, even though i wont be using it.
i do know that there are many people who have gotten away with breaking their contract early with no penalities and some even receiving refunds.
but how would i go about doing this?

Find another internet service provider that doesn't force you into a 12 month contract, or ask if they have a month by month deal. I assume all of this as you didn't already agree to a contract. (Working is vague on that issue however)
If you don't have a contract already, explain it to them and they should be able to work it out, since they won't be able to have your business if they make you agree to a year-long contract.
Though I've never had to agree to an internet contract and wouldn't ever.
You might be able to get your service transferred to wherever you move to next, if it still in the service area of the company. Also you may want to read over the contract and see any clauses about cancellation.
If you actually talk to them about it and be polite to their service about it, they may be able to cancel it without fees, if you are moving out of their service area. |

There are loads of Internet providers that don't require you to sign up for 12 months AOL is one. Go on google and you will find lists of them. |

Pay for it for 2 months then phone them and tell them you can't afford it. They will disconnect you and you'll be give a lump sum to pay for what you've used. Or.. set up a month by month plan with someone else. |
