full time and 2 Saturday shifts a month, have their hours changed to M-F 8-4pm and also still come in on Saturday and complete the 40 hours. All of this has been done with out any of the employees consent, they have all been told to leave at 4 everyday and come back in on Saturday. This seems wrong.

even though m-f dosn't equal 40, saturday should be overtime?

Yes, it is illegal to change the time on employee. Get a photocopy of your time card on Friday. If they are making you work on Saturday, it should be overtime to be paid at time and a half....IF the timeclock is computerized, it should print an hour exception sheet, that is the record in which they change the time. That should be signed by the employee.
Meanwhile, protect yourself and save the copy of your timesheet. Also a print schedule of your hours to build a case and report it to the Labor departament. |

If you work for a private company, then you work when they tell you or you go find another job. If you work for the government, just don't show up, they won't fire you. |

If you are working at-will, there is nothing wrong with this. You now work seven hours on weekdays (I am assuming a one hour lunch break) and four on Saturday. Unless it is stated in a contract that the employer needs your consent to change your hours, your consent is not necessary. |

Dont you read the newspapers? there are probably 100 guys waiting for your job. This is not the time to be complaining, just be glad you have a paycheck coming in regularly. Seems to me they are trying to keep you guys in a job and saving on overtime is one way to keep you all working. They can only cut the wages pie so many times before no one gets anything. |
