I was just wondering...
does it still work like the Old Western days when any bloke who could read a wanted poster can track down and drag a fugitive to the police station (dead or alive) and get a reward?

Many states do not legally allow bounty hunters within their state. Of those states that do allow bounty hunters, they now all require that you be licensed, take special classes, and be bonded, as well as requiring that you be under contract with a licensed bail bonds company.
As recent as a few years ago, some states did not have these requirements, but there were numerous problems with bounty hunters breaking the law, bursting into homes unlawfully, bursting into the wrong home, and some unfortunate homicides committed by bounty hunters. This prompted an immediate change in how things were done. |
