While at work my supervisor pulled me to the side wanting to discuss things that were going on in my personal life at home. She said it was all a result of not having God/Christianity in my life. I do not practice any religion, I consider myself I suppose an agnostic. I believe in a higher power but I'm not sure from there. I do find interest in other religions & have several books at home some of which are about Wicca. She said I needed to get rid of the books, they were of the devil and the cause of the chaos in my household. After this she sent me home for the day and took me off the schedule for the following day which was a Sunday. She then insisted that my husband & I attend her church w/ her husband the following day. Is this even legal? And if not is it grounds for a lawsuit. This is actually the second time I have been sent home because of my beliefs. Any info would be greatly appreciately, thx.

No, it is not legal. It doesn't take a legal expert to realize that she is discriminating against you. THe workplace guarantees equal employment opportunities. Any employer bringing up religious beliefs should be sued, and do so quickly. If she has done this twice she is doubly screwed. File a lawsuit claiming that she has harassed you due to your personal beliefs, that she has caused many emotional damage, has caused you to lose alot of money, and has discriminated against you. |
