Can I take my kids out of state?

Their father is paying child support (300 a month for 4 kids...) and I have only been receiving it regularly since october of last year. I have been offered a job in Texas and right now I live in Missouri. So does their father. He is not very involved with the kids. He was addicted to heroin and has been clean for a little over a year. He is upset about my leaving and claims that he will do "whatever he can" can stop me. I am hoping to go through this smoothly. If he wants to try and get custody will it affect my moving? I am leaving on the 6th of May. Any advice about this would be AWESOME! Thanks!

There are no custody arrangements. He pays court ordered shild support but we were never married and there were never any custodial agreements. I have sole custody of the children.

He cannot stop you from moving in order to accept a job. However, if he takes you back to court, the most he could hope for is that you help pay for the children's travel cost when they go back to Missouri to visit their father.

What kind of custody agreement is there and does it have anything about traveling and moving to another state..you would need to settle this matter in court since he claims he will take you back to court if you move..most of the time, you need to finalized an agreement for visitation when moving out of state in the courts

You'd better look up the laws of the state. He can't stop YOU from moving, but he might be able to stop the kids.

I'm somewhat in the same as you. But my kids dad isn't on drugs...my kids dad is in a middle of a divorce and tryin for custody of his kids with her, he's got one with me and now he's got his girlfriend 4 months pregnant. I'm in school to become a medical assistant and she goes back and fourth. my aunt and i and kids all live up here in Alaska and my babys daddy tells me if I wanna leave the state even for a vacation I have to leave my daughter behind but it's okay for him to take her down there and when his mother comes up here it's okay for her to take her down to the lower 48, but I'm not allowed too. He's got 2 jobs and barely has time for her let alone his other kids and when he's asleep or running around most of the time he leaves her with the sitter and tells me I can't have her. I want to move to another state here in the next couple years i have a job waiting for me when I come and my aunts health isn't doing good. My daughter and I have a real strong bond and I know it's stronger than her Dads and my oldest daughter is attached to her as well and so is my youngest, they have a bond i've never seen before and she's a lot closer to her sister than her brothers because she sees her sister more than her brothers. I've been told I can get charged for kidnapping and then I've been told I wouldnt since we dont have any court orders....i'm a bit nervous to do anything I dont wanna lose my daughter and leave her behind. After School I'm suppose to be getting her back full time and she goes to her dad on his weekends. Can someone give me some advice.
