How would you even be able to figure out who did it? You can't take a John Doe to small claims.

You stole their money by stopping their laundry. I say you got what you deserved.

your lucky all they did was add red dye to your close. i can promise you i would do far worse then that. i would be waiting for you to come back and yes you would for sure be late to work and i would be in jail. how dare you. if your late for work then get up earlier. you had no right to do that to some one. i hope that person watches you and every time you do your wash you come back to dyed or cut up close. its so nice to see what gos around comes around. to who ever dyed your close....keep up the good work.

I think that what they did is WAY out of line, but you are contributting to the disrespectful behavior by putting your clothes in the washer while THEIR money was in it. So technically, you have some fault in it. However you're right...the other person did go way out of line. I would start by talking to your manager of your apts first and take it from there. Everyone needs to respect each other's things. I have a laundry room right next to my apartment, and when I'm in a hurry and that laundry room is busy, I just rush over to the second closest one. I would never touch other people's clothes, because I wouldn't want the same done to me.

the smarter thing to do would have been to put your item or two in with their wash, and get it out before they came to move to the dryer.

but I wonder if you were late to work, or went to work on time in the dyed clothes? :)

Hello, It sounds to me like the person's wash that you stopped thinks that YOU are the other person who has been stopping every one else's washers on all of the other occasions! Unless you have proof of who did this, you will not have a very strong case. It will be your word against theirs. Do you have a Cell phone equipped with a Camera? hmmmm.....Talk to whomever you suspect and remember to get the proof you need.

you can sue whoever it was for damages to your clothes, you must have documents showing evidence of such that happpened. Like a picture of how it looked before and how it looks now with knowing the name of the person. Also with showing how much it will cost to replace or have clean special.
As nieghbors in apartment building nobody has the right to touch anybody elses stuff reguardless of the issue. Nobody has the right to ruin anybody's stuff either. You can file at small claims court in your area and I hope all turns out for you. Good Luck!

Really, you probably COULD take someone to court, but think about it. Is the cost of the lawyer worth more than the ruined clothes? Do you HAVE someone to sue? And if you were doing what other people were doing well it looks like someone assumed it was the same person and got tired of it, so a lawyer MIGHT tell you it's your fault to begin with. I can't see any lawyer taking your case.

You can but you are probably out of luck. You were out of line to take their wash out of the washer, you were technically stealing their $1.25 or whatever it costs to run the machine. If you sue them for ruining your clothes they can sue you for stealing their run on the machine.

They could also make the excuse that they thought they were dying their clothes red in the washer and since you stole their load that your clothes got dyed by accident.

people get angry very easily nowadays. When my husband and I stayed in TLF for awhile we had this guy 2 rooms down from us freak out because I guess someone threw his wet clean clothes in the middle of the floor just so someone could dry there clothes in the dryer even though the guy with the wet clothes had his in the dryer first. If you needed the shirt so badly you should have washed it the night before.Both of you did wrong doings.

Do you know who did it? If you know who did it, then you could file a claim in small claims / civil court? You might win because they shouldnt have done that, but only if you have the evidence and proof of purchase that those clothes were even yours to have an amount to sue for

Yeah, small claims court. But who is this "someone" you need to know who did it not just a random person. And if you didn't see them, you won't win and will be a waste of time. Besides what you did was as wrong as the person you described, get some "RIT Color Remover or RIT Super Stain Remover" and move on. I wouldn't even deal with immature people.
