It seems very odd that some random police officer came and told your boyfriend to leave. Either you are missing a part of your story or someone didn't want him there. |

nope unless illegal things are going on in your house |

No a cop can't tell someone you know to leave your property. Maybe there is a reason though... |
|

carl

no cop can just barge in telling someone to leave not even in texas |
|

Pandora

My first question is what made the cop show up at your house in the first place? Did your parents call the cop? |
|

kazzy

umm..
unless they were looking for him he can but if he just did it for no reason then no he cant |

I am confused because how would the cop know he was even at your house
who called the cop
more details needed |

from my understanding the law in texas states that if you ask a neighbor to watch your house and give specific instructions then that is law. i believe that your bf couldve been arrested if he didnt leave just cause your parents gave those instructions to your neighbors. if he comes back while your parents are away, he is trespassing. |
|

Of course not. Even if he was 18 the cop would have no right to unless he had your parents consent. |

I don't think so. Maybe he wasn't really a cop. |

nope. almost the same thing happened to me, except there were like five people at my house. police abuse their power all the time. get used to it. |

How did the cop know he was there.?
No the cop legally can not tell him to leave unless the boy is doing something wrong.. or your parents called and ask him to tell the boy to leave, BUT for no reason , no he can not ask him to leave.
BUT... that does not mean he is not going to do it anyway.. |

No. He has no right at all. I would have just stayed inside and told him he is not welcome in. If he forces himself in, then he is the one who should be getting in trouble. I would call the police department and complain. |

Why did a cop just "show up"?
It could be pertinant to the answer to the question. |

If your parents requested the cop to remove the boy from your property, your boyfriend could be seen as trespassing and the cop could have some evidence. But just asking someone to leave the premises without due cause is an unjust use of power. |

sure can- U are a minor, he's a minor. Without parental supervision, no matter what age you are, he's well within his rights to make your boyfriend vacate the premises. Why was the cop there in the first place? |

Elizabeth
 |
....why did the cop make him leave? I don't understand why he made him leave. Did he say he had a reason? Your questioning confuses me and he most likely can make him leave but I don't know. |

If the neighbors were warned you most likely were ordered no Boys while Parents not home. According to most state laws I believe he is considered an adult and you are a minor child. If he truly cares for you he will respect Dad and Mom's rules. Your hormones are lying to you right now and when you have graduated college without the awesome and often overwhelming responsiblity of raising a kid you will hate Mom and Dad much less.
Sorry to be Captaine Bringdown, but proving you are deserving trust is a part of growing up. Start doing some deep cleaning or yardwork while waiting for parents to return, act like you deserve some freedom and it will come. |

First, it's not your property as other answers have brought up. It's your parents' property. Most likely, someone (e.g. your parents) requested an officer to do a check of the residence while they were gone.
Edit: Okay, well that clears it up then. A neighbor saw your boyfriend entering your house, and since he had no business there, they contacted the police. Then they let the responding officer know that your parents didn't want guys hanging out in THEIR house while they were gone. Bye bye boyfriend. |

Yes because he's legally an adult and your not, but if your parents give him premission he is allowed to stay at your house. You could easily have said he was a friend and it would have been fine but your underage so you can't date him. The cop would probably have asked your parents if you said that you guys were only friends and your parents would've had t ovalidate it. How did the cops find out? |

This is totaly illegal the cop is breaking the law, you`d have a difficult time proving it though after the event |

Where did the cop come from? Did someone like call him? No I don't really think he can do that, but IDK? That's weird..But dud your parents know he was coming over anyway? BC if they did then he really couldn't of done anything. |
|

Troy S

if your parents told him too of course |

Obiously he can since he did. So the question is, What are you doing haveing boys visiting you when your parents aren't home? |
|

mmokayy

I believe by law you still are dependent on your parents and living under their rood. Therefore a cop can do that. |
|

Alyssa M
 |
nope not 18 yet he was out of line plus he didnt have a search warrent |
|

Matthew G
|
yes this is law in texas which most people do not know about |
|

Patty M

If your parents specified that that you couldn't have anyone else over, then anyone on the property that they haven't given permission to is trespassing. |
