I had a meeting with my supervisor and business manager. While the other person was away, my supervisor said "I work above you, if you don't like it, you know what to do" this person then went on to tell me "if you cannot work with me, you know what to do. now, under california law, is this even legal I know its not acceptable. I'm going to tell his to my business manager, but i want to throw in some law terms while i do it. help me! xo desperate.

but it would fall under harrassment then? This person is making my life difficult at work because this person has a "power trip" when i spoke with my boss about the work problems, it was the worst thing i could do because the "manager" was so angry and upset, people that don't work in this office even noticed it. constant critizing of work, coming to my office to supervise my every move, and now saying this, its freakishly unbelieveable.

If you don't like the way your supervisor is treating you, you know what to do.
He is not firing you, just letting you know he is your boss, and if you don't like him being your boss, you can find a new job. Nothing illegal about that anywhere.
*EDIT* - From what you have told us, it sounds more like "micro-management" than harassment to me.
If you think it's harassment, talk to a lawyer. They would be in a better position to hear more details of your case, and can advise you a lot better than someone answering a question on Yahoo. |

I'd quit wasting time on this and get better at what I'm doing or job hunt.
One statement won't rise to the level of harassment. Sounds like sour grapes.
I'm sure going over his head to a business manager will make things MUCH easier.....

It's legal, there is no law saying he can't say this, and you do have options. 1) perform as he wants you to or 2) get another job |

I think it is acceptable. He is not really making a threat of bodily harm. He is stating a fact and if there is no one above him around, a worker just has to take this attitude for the time being.
However, if one is able to change positions, or leave at present, or has someone or something defending, then it is perfectly okay to tell this boss " that he is crap beneath your feet" |

You have options. Personally, I would move on. This person is going to be 'gunning' for you and will probably make your life miserable until you quit anyway. |
