My husband has one from about 25 yrs ago now it is affect him from getting jobs.

Courts never destroy records. However, many states have a provision for sealing or expunging the records. That limits the folks that can see it and generally a private employer cannot access it. The conditions and procedures are different in every state. Consult a local criminal lawyer to look into it.
