hi,
i have a family member who at age 18 got in with the wrong crowd & due to this was convicted of 2 felonies.
several years have passed & this person has never been in any trouble with police , has two kids & is a christian.
works in public as a personal trainer .
she wants to make a good life for her 2 kids but everything that pays good is closed to her!
she lives in northcarolina.
she wants to be a crime scene investagator.
nc will not allow this.
does anyone know anything to help?
she is very interested in law etc.
her crime was at age 18.
now she is 26.

Well...if it does disqualify them from getting a job in law enforcement it would surprise me...since cops commit multiple felonies every day! They just don't get in trouble for them. Cops are actually some of the biggest criminals, in my experience. |

Being convicted of a felony usually disqualifies you from law enforcement work. This is a crappy deal but your family member likely will not be hired by any law enforcement agency. |

In the u.s., a person with a felony conviction cannot carry a firearm. Possession of a firearm by a felon is itself a felony. That will disqualify him from most law enforcement jobs. There are some that do not involve guns, but every agency will consider her history and unless there are no other candidates, they will reject her because of her history. |

She can apply for Law Enforcement and explain the situation but honestly their not going to take some one with 2 felonies. Law Enforcement is a very competitive field..... their other candidates that their going to look at with NO felonies that are just as qualified if not more than her ......sorry she might want to take something else in school
WELL KELLY T how about doing something about those crooked cops you supposedly know. instead of coming on here bashing all of the good cops who put their lifes on the line for you and me every night and day. |

I don't think she can. In wisconsin a felony is an automatic dis-qualifier. |
