They can carry any weapon they own subject to the same laws as you. Thier service weapon is subject to the policy of thier agency, so the guidance comes from there.

Except for a few cities with ineffective and ill-considered laws violating the 2nd. amendment to the Constitution, everybody can carry a gun legally. Off-duty cops are often required to carry, and probably will carry concealed.

Police officers from the USA are explicitly allowed to carry a firearm in any state, and in any city within any state, throughout the entire USA. I'm sure there are specific places where they cannot carry, but I cannot list them all.

Particular places that have stated they will prosecute anyway, regardless of the overriding federal law are Chicago, a few other cities in Illinois, and the like.

Yes, if they keep their gun at home which most do. They can not use their issued gun on side jobs though. But from home to work and work to home. Expect them to have it.

Just be cause a police officer is off of the clock he is still a police officer. So yes he can carry a gun and he can do a citizen arrest if he sees a crime committed.

And I can't belive there are parts of this country where an adult is not allowed to freely carry a gun in the open 24/7.

Yes, if they have a permit, absolutely. You can carry one too, but you need the proper permits and licenses depending on how you plan to carry the weapon.

Yes, in order to carry a gun as a cop you need to have a concealed weapon permit, and this not only allows you to carry a gun while on duty but while off duty also. You also don't have to be a cop to apply for a concealed weapons permit.
