Can anyone help?? i was banned for drink driving (please dont judge me) a year and a half ago... for 9 months?

due to me completing a drink drive re-habiltation course and 2 weeks ago i passed my theory test so everything has been going fine but only recently ive heard of people having to take an "extended retest" but even on my day in court when i was banned the judge or my solicitor mentioned nothing about this just that if i completed the course my 12 month ban be reduced to 9 months.... can someone please advise me on this as im looking to book it online and its prompting me if i need an extended re-test or a normal test..........
