In order to qualify for social security disability you have to be 100% disabled.
Being able to work would rightfully disqualify you.

It is non taxable income and it is valid as long as the disability is present, which in most cases is for life.

If you have not applied for it you should.

You have to be totally disabled per a doctor's decision to receive it.
