I received a letter from Allstate (not insured through them) at one of my old addresses (my parents'). In it, they claim that they're writing for one of 3 reasons: 1) determining rate for CURRENT?? policy, OR 2) in connection with a quote, OR 3) application for insurance.
They requested my Credit Report!!!!! but found inconsistencies with the address. (Of course: I haven't lived at the address they sent the letter to in a while)
Isn't this somehow a breach of privacy? I don't want just anyone to be able to pull my credit. (they mentioned opting out, but is it possible that the norm is anyone's access to my credit report UNLESS I opt out??)
Where could I find more info about this and what kind of lawyer would I consult if it comes to that?
