i don't know much but i want to be legally emacipated.
Now i read that you have to be "financially stable" or something.
and i should also be able to live on my own.
But how can i live on my own if i'm not old enough to buy an apartment? Am i?? fresh 16 years in Texas.
and if i am can some one out there guide me on how i should go about doing this. I mean how can i move out or buy the apartment if im not legally emancipated BUT then again, how can i show that i can live on my own if i cant buy the place i wanna live errr uuggh !! , is it emacipated then move out or is it move out THEN emancipation???!!!!!!! I'M SO CONFUSED! HELP!!!

Let me tell you two things that you have to show a judge in order for them to consider emancipation.
1) That you are able to fully support yourself, that means paying the rent the utilities, groceries etc, not living with a friend, not living with a relative, but financially supporting yourself with no help from anyone.
2) Why you want to be emancipated. I hate my parents, I don't like their rules, etc, are not good enough. You have to show that emancipation is in the best interest of the child (you).
If you can't prove those two things (and telling him 'I'll get a job' won't cut it), then you might as well settle in for the next two years and then move out.
Once you are emncipated, then you are legally able to enter into a contract (lease an apartment etc.). The only thing you can't do is buy smokes, drink and vote.

This is what you do...Get a Fake ID, go to a bar, get drunk, marry some random person, move in with him into a portable house, and spawn equally immature and annoying children :D
Seriously though, just stay with your parents or in a severe case, call child services, and get adopted or something. |
