OK i havee been on probation since January 2009 and i might move to new york with my mom to finish HS and probably start college and get a job i haven't told my probation officer yet but i am going to on my next meeting. i was charged with retail fraud 2nd degree (shoplifting) this is a misdemeanor and my probation was for a year so i have done about 3 months so far i was wondering if i would be able to move before my probation was over and also i am on hyta because im 17 and iam a first time offender. thanks for the help.

my friend was charged with the same thing and hes moving to florida the po told himcan move all you got to do is write a letter every month and the proation dosent transfer becuase the crime is so small i hope hes right

You can if your PO is able to get the authorities in NY to accept you and transfer you to them for monitoring. |

If you have been doing good, your probation should be cut in half. You can ask you probation officer if he can put in for your probation to be transfered to new york. |

My fiance has been on probation for 5 years and rule number one is that you cannot leave the state, or even the county. They will put out a warrant for your arrest. If you just tough it out until you get done with probation then they'll have nothing over your head and you can do as you please. |
