No Its your name on the contract and by you giving him the phone you are actually giving him permission to use it. You are liable for all cost. Sorry but just chalk it up to experience |

No you cant because it is in your name so you are liable for it. |

You can file a claim in your local small claims court. You can recover charges that he incurred in your name if you have the ability to prove in writing or that he verbally agreed to pay the bill. You see these cases all the time on tv and as you see most end up with what they are looking for. But for future references dont get anyone anything in your name and if you have too for one reason or another get it in writing that they will be responsible for the bill. |

If the bill is in your name then you are responsible for it, why not contact the phone company explain the situation and cancell the contract. Failing that as someone else said contact Judge Judy. |

yes; but there would've had to have been an agreement between the two of you that he was going to be responsible for his calls.
It doesn't have to be written, it could be a verbal contract where he had agreed to pay or would have contributed toward the bill.
Be prepared; he will most likely say that it was a gift; that's why it's always better to have things in writing or have credible witness. |

This is clearly a serious case for Judge Judy. |

Did u have any type of contractual agreement with him? If you did, depending on the agreement, you have a good chance of winning. Good luck! |

Not really, no. Unless of course you have it in writing that he agreed to pay the bill.
Certainly you need to cancel it right away, if you haven't already done so. Basically, cut your losses and learn a lesson. |

yep! im not even joking this was on one of those court tv shows like 5 mins ago. also! cancel the account and pay the termination fee and other things and write down the costs ASAP so you get all your money and if he uses the phone in a bad way or runs up the bill to high your credit/credit history is not distroyed. when you cancel, explain to the rep. why u are canceling just so it is noted on the account so when the legal people(judge) looks at the account and why it was closed, it goes along with why u are sueing him. good luck and i hope u win the case! :)

Yes you can take him to small claims and get the unpaid bill paid. Also, you can cancel his phone and pay the early termination fee and get that paid for in court also. Now, if you take him to court but don't cancel the phone line you may not get the money for the bill since you are not willing to cancel the phone. Good luck |
