Can my Phone be tapped without a warrant and without me knowing?

A Warrant can be issued for probable cause that a law is being broken. By necessity if a warrant was issued for tapping your phone you would of course NOT be informed as it would make little sense to do so.

The US president has made certain exceptions to this through executive orders, namely, if your call is out of the country or originates out of the country and is to someone that is suspected of being a terrorist then the govt can monitor this call, but any taps that arise in this way or any taps with out a warrant cannot be used against you in a court of law.

Whether the President actually has this authority has yet to be clarified by the US Supreme Court.

As of now, Your phone, mail, e-mails, cell phone or any other communication device can be looked at by our Government thanks to George W. Bush for any reason what so ever. A warrant is no longer needed. Welcome to America, land of free speech and your right to privacy...until Bush came in, canceled all of that & threw out the concept of checks and balances. Someone needs to tell Mr. Bush he does not own the USA.

If someone dislikes you they can bogusly report you to the goverment as a suspected terrorist, and your phone line can be tapped and your email censored, due to the Patriot Act, or you can even be hauled off to Guantanamo to be tortured.

Yeah what have you done to make them suspisious. If its something like a big drug ring or like a murder they can tap your phones or something really really big like that corporate stuff. They will send everyone that you talk to a note after the investigation is over letting them know that their conversation was recorded on the day and the time.

It can these days - Bush has suspended that part of the constitution. He's even decided it's OK for him to open your personal mail now. He'd already given himself permission to read your emails and tap your phones without a warrant.

Your phone can be tapped without you knowing it. It is illegal to do it though. Check with your local police and they may come check your phone if you think someone has it tapped, then you can get a warrant issued.
