I work in a restaurant and the owner will not let any of the employees claim all of their tips. Because of this, I could get in trouble with the IRS for not claiming all of my income. Also, If I lost my job, I would receive less unemployment compensation because unemployment benefits are based on how high your income is. I also know that he saves a lot of money on the social security and unemployment taxes all employers are required to make because the amount he has to pay in is based on the income of his employees. What can I do about this?

For the first poster, it is hard to do that depending on how bad you need the job. He is wrong and you can report him anonymously. I would go looking for another job. A friend of this had the same situation and her boss wasn't paying in the right taxes as far as withholding from her check. She had to surrender tax refunds for like 3 years and make payments to the IRS |
