Can my former landlord really sue me when the property was sold during my lease?

During the course of my lease the house I was renting was sold to a private party. I had to break the lease and now I'm being threatened to be sued. But, the lease I signed was with an entirely different owner and the lease agreement does not say anything about the lease being able to be transferred. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

It depends on the laws where you live. try to contact a renters association or an attorney. they would give you the best advice

I think that they can. I live in an apartment complex and in the middle of my lease they sold the complex to another company. Now when my lease ended I had to resign with their new contract. So what I think happens is that the lease that you have is still void but the name of the landlord (whoever that was) is now transfered over to the new people. So in short I think that they can sue you but they have to go by the rules of the lease that you signed.
