Can someone get charged for forwarding a private email to a 3rd party?
Find answers to your legal question.

Can someone get charged for forwarding a private email to a 3rd party?

If the email states not to send it to anyone and that it's private due to the content, and the person forwards it, can you sue them or press charges?

I think everyone else answered the question quite nicely.

No, the person cannot be charged unless he/she made any legal binding agreement not to distritbute/duplicate the private material contained within the email.

If the person didn't agree to that sort of privacy, then he/she has no obligation to keep it private. Any credible company would know this though, and would make sure the person has agreed before they give off private information.

When you sign up for any website, you agree to the Terms of Use, or Terms of Service. These usually state that you cannot use any image/date for commercial use. You click on it to show that you agree to those terms, and THEN they let you use their website.

Same thing for a company, you must agree to the privacy terms BEFORE they give it off to you.

NO, If you mean forwarded by the person you sent it to. It would be illegal only if this person signed a contract stating not to do so.

Without a written agreement, any party in a private communication is free to divulge the content of that communication to others.

Now if the mail is stolen by a third party then he/she (the third party) could be breaking the law.

Not unless there was a prearranged, binding agreement to follow such directives. When you hit the send button, what happens after that is out of your control.
