Can someone please give me some evidence that health care in canada is better than in the U.S?

It is not better in all areas. However, there is a focus on preventive care, and everyone has access to basic care. People with more money can invest in private insurance in order to get better care if they want. There is not the heavy investment in high technology as much as in the US, but that is a trade-off they have chosen to make. People don't have to go to the ER to get antiobiotics for an infection, like many people in the US have to do. And they don't have hospitals going out of business from absorbing losses from uninsured patients. That enough?

they don't have better care, they just get care without having to pay for it. a large percent of their tests are farmed out to the us.

the concern isn't that Canada, Europe or anywhere has better health care than us, it's that we pay more than double than any other country with no real improvement in care. I apologize for not being able to provide a link but if it really means anything to you then a bit of googling should provide you with the info you seek.

We do not have better health care....only less expensive health care. Many procedures are denied and many procedures and tests have to be paid for by the individual now. Health care is one of the largest costs to run our country, and Canadian health care is not investing in newer and more efficient technology to cut the cost of health care, so costs remain high and patients can wait years for things as critical as heart bypasses. It is health care for the influential and politicians, and no one cares for the average taxpayer.
In our part of the country, hospitals are over crowded, operating rooms are not being used because they cost too much, so patients are flown 500 miles to Vancouver, where they are repaired and left to find their own way home. Things as simple as a broken leg are sent to Vancouver, and expectant mothers have to go ahead of time to other communities which might have room for them, ahead of time. And this is not a back woods area of Canada, this is central British Columbia, our particular health region has a few hundred thousand people. Contrary to some on here trying to diminish the shamefulness of extreme waiting lists, tests and procedures are NOT scheduled collectively thru multiple health care facilities ("making the list look long"), the list IS long and we do not have multiple facilities to schedule any procedures. We are one (1) inadequate facility, and people die waiting, or their illness becomes chronic before it is ever treated. Patients are told up front they will have to wait months before they can be tested to see if they might have cancer even. Now each province is different, some areas are worse than this, I'm sure. Money is not adequately invested in training up future doctors and nurses either, so it can be very difficult to even get a family doctor.
Many Canadians go to Mexico or the US and pay for the desired procedure themselves. Canadian healthcare would work much better if all the old, outdated fogies who set health care policies died and let more progressive minds move us into this century.
