Can they fire me over this?

I don't really know if it is petty just tiresome, and i can't go to my supervisor well i could maybe today I am dressed very cute, if i may say so myself and i guess i yawned one to many times or something and for 5 seconds a little part of my side was showing now normally i would just fix it and get over it but one of the other supervisors saw it and (it's the same one that always says something about my clothes no one else does and the thing is she is not even my supervisor never has been so becuz she has already said something to me about it then now she wants to point me but even my sup who was right there said that i was wearing two shirts and she didn't see anything and nobody else said anything either sooo.... I don't know they never gave me that raise, that cae with the training class i took almost 4months ago now they have had two more training classes come and go (and nothing) i ask my project manager why he never transferred me when they first trained us, he never gave me an answer except to say that now i need my points lower which is excuse me bs but anywaz on top of that i asked for a schedule change last month and they only move me to part time cuz they don't have anything else they tell me just last week another girl ask for the same type of change and she got it so she is still working full time and i only have part time which is not so bad but you can only work like that for so long before they take your benefits you know so if i complain will i lose the job (which would be worse) or maybe make it better what is your opinion??? Additional Details Let me clarify a little bit, as it seems no one understands a word I said. I just wanted to know if I go to HR and complain about the these 2 things,
1. They promised me a raise 4 months ago and I am still waiting, even though I went thru the training and at times I will go over to the other department and help out, when there is a need.
2. It seems to me that the supervisor is picking on me about the way I dress, I really try very hard not to dress outside of business casual. I, actually, like to dress that way.

Well, depending on where you are and what unions and such you have they can just walk in and fire you anytime they want. You don't likely have a lifetime contract with them. Indeed it sounds like you are in a bit of a training/probationary period so it's kind of assumed if you aren't good enough they will just let you go.
Some things in your post really indicate the main problem isn't your clothes. You have been told and are expecting promotion and pay raises and they aren't happening. That's not good. That's really a sign this isn't working out.
You say you have points. What are they for? It doesn't sound like your clothes. It sounds like something else. Those are likely the main problem.
Here's what happens. If someone is doing their job really well, little things get overlooked and they get promoted. If someone else isn't working out, it draws attention to them and they get evaluations and reports that are unfavorable. Eventually, when the list gets long enough, they are told they are being let go because they have all these problems. It sounds like that is the path you are going on.
If this is really a place you want to work, then you need to do everything, and I mean everything that you can to get their approval. You dress conservatively, you show up early for work and after breaks, you work diligently, maybe you can work through this.
Otherwise, you should be looking at work that is more suited to you. It might be the same thing at a different place, but once a supervisor notices a new person in an unfavorable way you are in a very bad situation.
I do agree with the other person that mentions your writing skills seem very poor. I don't say that to hurt your feelings. Maybe it is that we are on the internet but I would encourage you to write everything like you need to do for work so that it becomes a habit. Nothing wrong with some additional practice. Slip up and lapse into cell phone typing and you are likely out a job.
Practice perfect business English in both writing and talking. If you have an accent learn to speak without it.
Best wishes,
Marv |

Your poor grasp of English punctuation, grammar, and spelling might be part of the problem.
The way your wrote your question tells me you'll never get promoted. |

I can't answer you question because I can't understand it. I hate to be one of those 'trolls' that goes around dogging everyones grammar but boy yours is awful!!
But most likely they can fire you without a cause anyway (regardless of what the cause is, if there is one). It really depends on where you live. In GA they can fire you over anything and you can't stop it. If I wore a purple shirt and my boss hated purple, he could fire me. The flip side is, the more people they fire, the higher their unemployment charges go. So if they fire people for no reason they have to end up paying more to the state in order to balance out the unemployment pay that must be paid to those workers. |

If your attire could be considerd appropriate by a reasonable amount of people and you can prove that others who are equally or less qualified then you, are getting the raises and changes they ask for and you are not......then this can be a form of harassment, and can stand up in a court of law.....Im not saying you should sue them or anything, but you can go to HR and make this known. If after expressing your feelings to HR and they do nothing or let you go....again now this is a case of unlawful termination. You have plenty of things protecting you in this situation, first Id talk to HR, and they should sit with you and your supervisors to clear the air and address the problems. You should also find out if you signed an "At WIll Employment Agreement", this means you can be fired for any reason or no reason at all......If not then you have to be formally warned before any termination takes place.
So My point is....take it to HR...you are fully protected in your case and any end in employment at this point sounds unlawful....But definitley go to HR. |

Yeah, lots of incoherent rambling with no complete sentences, paragraphs. or even logical structure.
Maybe the way you communicate, both verbally, and in writing, is what is holding you back.
To your credit, the Additional Details section is much clearer, so you do in fact have something to build on quickly if you decide I have a point :) |

Its hard to understand exactly what you're talking about but from what i understand it sounds like they're not firing you because they don't have a legitimate reason to but that they want to and that's why they've cut your hours. so be real careful of what you do it sounds like they'll fire you the second they get a chance or just look for a new job. |

If they promised you a raise and its not written in print, their word is as good as any ones, but you can still approach them and negotiate. Money is always negotiable. Women often forget that and then complain that men make more money.
If you truly feel your super is picking on you, you should follow the chains of command and go to your direct supervisor. If nothing gets done with that, go above them. Continue this until someone takes you seriously. But be aware...No one is any company likes to get HR involved. That's risky business. Be prepared for a fight. Good Luck! |

My opinion: use some punctuation.
My advice: Go for it and complain. I'm pretty sure you can't lose your job over something like that. I think they have to have a nice, solid reason to fire you, other than "She said something insolent." (Now, I don't think you should go in firing off curse words left and right, because that just might get you fired) |
|

Looking for the REAL answer!
|
yes you can get fired for not dressing appropriately (in your managements eyes)
don't complain and act, take on more work
sometimes it's Better to put your head down and work hard that will get you further then complaining about not getting what you want when you want it |
