Can under 18's choose where they want to go?

i am getting fed up of being told that i have to do this or that by my dad. just wondered if there's a law saying that i have to go where my parents want me to go.

In the UK it is 16, unless you are putting yourself in serious physical danger. Trust me...call child line or speak to the police. Have gone through this before.

You do if you want to come back home.

depends on your age and where you want to go

Go where exactly?

They can't legally make you do anything, it is not illegal to break a rule set by your parents, it is not illegal to walk out the door when grounded, it does not matter.

Just say no and refuse to do it if you dont want to, they cant call the police or anything..

you can move out at 16, but if you're still living with your dad then you'll have to live by his rules

What are you speaking of specifically? Feelings like this are common amongst people your age, I know I felt the same way when I was your age! If you're talking about college, it's your right to choose what school you want to go to, not theirs.

Golden
if you are at least 17 (in US) you can move out in most states. got a job? prolly should do some quick math on how much it will cost when you leave.

morshock
while you live under their roof you should obey their rules, if you do not like it then move out simple as that.

as for the law you are not legally responsible until you are 18 so will pretty much have to do as your told

socialism rules
do what ever you want

You can do whatever you want man - 18 or not. Its your life, whatever you do is only for you.

There is a law that says that your parents are legally responsible for you until you are an adult. You may not like it, but when and if you have children you will understand.

You don't "have" to but you are in your dad's care until you are 18 so as far as the laws concerned you'd be best just doing what he tells you to.
