Can we make the police use only rubber bullets to fell the opponent and not kill him? Why this is not thought

Yes, it is possible & is being done to quell the mob which is unarmed & is doing peaceful demonstration or using non lethal means.
This question must be asked to 12,00,000 Indian army armed with automatic weapons in disputed territory Kashmir which opens indiscriminate fire on even women & children which has killed 7,00,000 innocent persons & raped over 60,000 young Muslim girls by order of Federal Government since 1989. Imagine, Kashmir valley has only 70,00,000 people(Govt of India's record shows it to be 50,00,000 people only which people reject) i.e., Indian tropps has killed 14 % population(UNSC resoltions dated % th Jan., 1949 has not allowed any external army to kill local people at all. Indian army is external as the territory is DISPUTED). USA asked Indian Govt in 1990 itself to use non-lethal weapons to quell mob there. On 21 st Jan. , 1009 Indian Troops killed 700 persons & on 21 st May, 1009 , army killed 300 persons again. In both cases, dense peaceful funeral procession was going to a graveyard. On 2nd Oct., 1991, a children school in Anantnag district with all 250 students was burn't alive by Indian army. Many similar things happen there in entire valley.

Because one, I believe rubber bullets at close enough range CAN penetrate and cause bodily harm (I BELIEVE, may be thinking of another non-lethal weapon). Two, some times you need to put a person down. If you're a victim being held a knife point, I doubt very seriously that you'd care if the suspect get shot with a live round or not.

No, because if an "opponent" is "felled" but not killed, he/she can still kill the police officer if he/she is armed.

Of course we can just ask the sociopathic/psychopathic criminals to play nice and put their automatic weapons down and stop going into schools, stores, restaurants and shooting up the place killing people who just happened to be there. No offense but you really need to take the "rose colored glasses off" and move out of the Cinderella's Castle at Disney World.

Bcoz if the police would capture them and just keep them behind the bars and will be another plane hijack and there will surely be a loss of life and money! So criminals who do grave offences should be shot dead the moment they are captured!

Some security guards have rubber bullets however most that can carry guns of any form have real bullets. OK would you feel safe with the POLICE using rubber bullets when the Criminals are using REAL BULLETS? Why not turn it around have rubber bullets for sale for the general public to purchase and the Police have the real bullets?

If they catch a person, he will be released by his boss or some politician within next half an hour.

It is an useless act. Catch a criminal. Take photographs. Display them in Public places and release him to do further crimes. What kind of stupid system we have.

Instead cut the hand of a thief. Every body knows from the hands. Lot of others never dare to steal anyone else's property.

rubber bullets are in use. they are often used effectively to disperse out-of-control demonstrations.

Police already use a system of escalating force and only use deadly force when deadly force is required. (the rare exceptions make the news and often result in prosecution of the cop). Adding another step is not necessary and would be impractical as cops would essentially have to carry a second gun, along with mace, a baton, a tazer, and all the other non-deadly things they already carry.

Not all Police officer shoot to kill any Police is there to protect and serve and they do not shoot anybody to kill. Police use all the sources they have to save life dose not matter who the person is, they are professionally trained to control any situation and they only use there guns when they do not have any other option and there or somebody else life is in danger.
There are some good Police officers and some bad Police officers.
Do not judge someone if you do not know the fact.

Nice idea conceptually.

Unfortunately, it will not work in the real world. All those rubber bullets do is sting and make a welt. They are more for controlling crowds and to push people back in a riot situation. They will not stop a criminal who's about to go to jail for a long time... nor will they stop a criminal from turning around and firing a real weapon at the officer.

The police forces are coming up with lots of non-lethal weapons, but in most situations, a real gun with a real bullet is what they have to use... for their own safety.

They actually don't work that well at a distance, and they certainly don't stop someone 100% of the time. :)

you have a creative thought,but rubber is an material which cannot tolerate such amount of heat which is produced during the emerging of the bullet,
thats why metals are used
