He would need to get caught doing the drugs or test positive. A savvy company wouldn't fire an employee based on rumors, that's a lawsuit waiting to happen. |

If an employer finds out that an employee is doing drugs at work it is grounds for termination. |

That's one good reason.
Engaging in illegal behavior will also kill his unemployment |

yes , you could end up being a danger to the other workers when you're high |

Yes, you can. All they'd have to do is test his hair to see the drug residue in the folicles. He'd be done. |

Yes, and the employer doesn't have to PROVE anything. He has more than one reason to be paranoid. |

If they do a drug test & it turns out positive then yes they can fire him. If not, then he can dispute that and they can't fire him without any proof. It will only be he say/ say she crap. Even if his boss tried to fire him without proof, he can go over his boss's head by speaking to the people over him and fight for his job back. Tell your friend not to worry & just stop smoking since this will eventually become a threat to his job. |

Absolutely! No job wants people on it getting stoned! That's just dumb. He shouldnt do drugs at work, and yes, he could get fired if he were to get caught. There are a lot of places that do random drug testing too, and if you even get caught with drugs in your system you can get fired. Dont do drugs at work. |

Yes, if they find out...or if there is random drug testing. |
|

Deary me...

Unless they had full evidence, i'm sure they couldn't prove it.
However if the boss has suspisions, he /she has plenty of right to, think of the safety of the other employers, and the safety of your friend.
I personally think if he gets fired for it, with little evidence, he should fight back.
but you never no how boss's will go! |
|

Chuckie O

Yes, he could be sacked with little evidence.
He could be sacked with no evidence. This is an employer, not a court of law. |

Unless he has a contract the governs the conditions under which he can be fired, he can be fired for thinking about smoking dope. |

he could get fired but it probably won+t get out. |

Of course you can. Unless you work at one of those places where everyone openly does drugs, even with the boss/owner. Yes, such places exist. |
