Can you refuse to give a security guard your information?

Well me and my friends were skating at a regular park. As we were about to leave and i mean we were on our way home the security guard parked his patrol car and told us he wanted to talk. So I went over to him and he said that some people filed a complaint against us for skating. In the first place I dont know why someone would file a complaint on us. We were not making to much noise and we werent damaging property. The security guard got out a piece of paper and a pen then he told me to write down my address, my name, my moms name, and my friends name. Is he allowed to do this and if he is what would he use this information for? Oh yeah i did write my information for the security guard. If this happens to me next time can I not give him my information?

Some of the answers are both right and wrong Yes he can ask for your name and address.
Its also possible he would have been told to do so by his employer.
But and its a big but you are Not obliged to give it to him.
I may also warn you that Security guards in the near future will be given the (well some of them) powers of the civilian police force.
There will be strong objection by serving police
but to have policing on the cheap is the aim of the government.

He has only the same rights as an individual citizen. You have the ability to simply refuse and walk away. He can't really do anything. If you were doing something illegal which he witnessed, he would have to call the police to action anything - just like you or I...
