Can you start a petition to get one teacher fired over another in Ohio?

A teacher in my school was hired for a choir teacher. Another teacher, who was hired after her, was told he was being fired, as they were doing away with one of the 3 music positions. He got mad and has gotten a lawyer to fight the school on it. The school doesn't want him either, apparently(not 100% on this). It is not the school's decision anymore. It is the judge's. None of the kids like him. Is there any kind of a petition that we can start as students that could get him fired and let her keep her job?

It is now in the hands of the legal system. The judge isn't going to take into account what a bunch of kids want. The decision will be made based on the laws in your state and the contracts the teachers were/are working under. |

You can start a petition but it doesn't mean your petition will accomplish anything. |

The petition is useless. Hiring and firing is governed by the union contract. |

Not if the school already wanted to fire him. If it was the school making the choice to fire the one you wanted then yeah you could circulate a petition among the students and ask the school board to consider your choice. Since that isn't the case there isn't really anything to consider. Even with your support the Judge will still go by the legal side, since they aren't going to say well the school doesn't want you and the students don't. |

The day may come you won't be wanted either but have been at your job longer than the one being let go. So be careful. What goes around comes around and this one may come around to bite you in the back should you elect to interject. There are consequences for every choice we make while going through life. We may cause more trouble for ourselves than such an action is worth. This teacher you want fired today may well be your boss tomorrow. Be wise. |
