considering the comment about returning veterans being a threat to the nation, could a veteran sue over it?
please list sources. i know you cant sue the government without the governments permission, but would it grant it for this?

You can not sue the DHS but you can sue and individual government representative, such as a senator, representative or even a government employee in DHS.. I have included a link of such a law suit so you can see an example of how this could occur. |

I haven't heard about this comment before, but:
1. you can file a slander suit any time, if you can find a lawyer to take your case. but it's very, very rare for the plaintiff to win a slander or defamation suit. just because you're upset about what someone said, that doesn't make it slander. you would have to show that you, personally, were damaged in a way that can be quantified economically. I don't see that here. Also, you are saying this statement was made about a broad class of people, not you specifically.
2. government officials and agencies have broad immunity from suits of this type. when you are in a high government position, there's always going to be someone who's upset with your actions. |
