I've been charged with possession of a deadly weapon in the state of Maryland. It says that I can face up to 3 years in prison and a 1000 dollar fine.
I was wondering how much would this affect my future (career opportunities).
Additional Details
In this incident, I had a knife but the charge still is for possession of a deadly weapon.

It is a misdemeanor rather than a felony in the state of Maryland (§4–102), so it depends on what kind of job you apply for. Some jobs only want to know if you have been convicted of a felony. Others want to know all non-traffic offense you have been convicted of. I say convicted, because if you are found innocent then you will not have anything to worry about.
If you are a minor, your record will be sealed once you become an adult. This will make the charge no longer show up on background checks for most commercial jobs. Now if you want to be a cop or FBI agent, that's another matter. |

What in Gods green earth - you been walking around either underage with a gun or have an unregistered weapon or both???
You know having a gun can get you killed by someone with a gun who's got years of experience with one.
You better be plainly apologetic to the judge - don't try to be Mr. Tough Guy, the judge will punish you and it's gonna hurt for years. Sound like you didn't mean to be a threat to anyone, (i hope)
maybe the judge will be more lenient if you seem like a nice person.
don't over do it, but be sorry, and personable.
You have heard, there have been a rash desperate folks doing shootings lately - because of the recession and stuff. You might sound like you were thinking of shooting other humans - (I hope not)
