From what can be glimpsed after reading the referenced text, Bronson comes across as a very dangerous man with unpredictable behavioural tendencies.
He should therefore not be released as society will not be safe with him as a free man.
What he requires is intensive psychiatric treatment and targeted behavioural management. ..... principally for his own good.
As an important side note, the asker should explain to some contributors to his question, that the Charles Bronson referred to is a different man from Charles Bronson the actor. It is obvious from some people's answers that some confusion exists in their minds. They should have read the piece as directed in your question first. |

The man is a menace in prison. Just imagine how bad he would be outside. Unfortunately, I can not see a time that this man would not be a threat to others. Till then, unfotunately he needs to stay inside. |

I never liked his films much...... was he jailed ?What for those films ? Bit rough that !.. Oh that C.B. i am usually in favour of clemency and leniency...so i would maybe have him out with supervision for a few years.How he does 2500 press ups a day and publishes books too is astounding,art too. I would have to meet the man to really form an honest appraisal as to freedom,but in his case a cursory glance through the facts ,seems like the system has been stitching him up a bit. |

Yes I do. he should be released immediatley. We live in country where cowards are running around with guns and knives, whereas Bronson, although owning a violent past, is in no way as bad as these before metioned spineless feebs.
He has been violent toward fellow inmates and prison staff in the past, but this is not an isolated case. What about all instances in the post WW2 mental hospitals for returning allied soldiers, they were even worse. And besides, if ANY ONE of us were to walk through a major city on a saturday night we would see at least one instance of scallies and general idiots beating the crap out each other. Are these people not more dangerous? Why aren't they locked up?
In this day and age of pensioners being mugged in the street at knifepoint, of kids carrying butchers knives, and scores being settled with the "cowards steel" (guns), releasing a prisoner who used his fists does not bother me at all.
Charles bronson was a violent individual, but if we all take the time to read his (ten+) books. you will see that the man is just another crim, but one that has changed for the better. He has been caged like an animal in solitary for the best part of 30 years, in conditions that make the Hanoi Hilton and Abugrabe look like a Ramada hotel. This is massive injustice that needs to be stopped NOW!
