OK, so my best friend who is male is trying to get custody of his son, the mother left him and the baby when the baby was a new born, now they're taking forever to get back to him on his parental rights. Hes been raising the baby for 8 months now alone, while the mother is in Hawaii..
Do you guys know of any ways to get custody asap? because hes stranded in michigan away from all his family.. Any answers greatly appreciated

you so he doesn't have custody, she just up and left. Some one told him that he would have to get custody before he switched states, but no one in the state will return his calls. Hes on the birth certificate... So he doesn't have to do anything more?

I'm confused. It sounds like he HAS custody. She would be the one who would have to try to take custody away from him.
Is his name on the birth certificate as the father? If so, I don't see what is stopping him from going whereever he wishes. He would probably do well to advise someone of his whereabouts so she can't claim he is concealing the child from her.
*Edit* I am assuming there isn't already a child custody order in place. If there is, that would control and he would have to have it changed. |

He is the leagal father. If his name is on the birth certificate then he is.
An emergency hearing in the us takes about a year. |
