Okay so i am now four months now.. the babys father and i aren't together.. we used to live together not legally married.. last time we talked we got into a huge argument over this.. He's in the military, and says he is gonna wants half custody of the child.. but i dont want that.. we had a verbal agreement when we found out we were expecting and we separated that he would be able to visit and take the child out anytime he wanted.. so now he's changed his mind.. he's deploying soon after the baby is born and i want to have everything settle before he deploys.. can he get partial custody even if i dont want it? He's got previous kids and doesn't care for them? Being in the Military and before i left him i found out he was selling drugs and well he's always had a drinking and partying problem.. since he is military he will be stationed in different cities and maybe even countries.. it worries me.. he says that before he deploys he's going to marry the first woman he meets, how am i supposed to trust my baby.. i just can't do that.. i want to be full time mommy.. what do you think that chances are the court gives him partial custody? He wants to have the baby every six months.. what kind of mother would settle to just lending out their child for half a year?? any help and advice.. past experiences would be very much appreciated.. I am in texas.. any good lawyers..? Thank You

i dont care much if i get child support.. i and i am not against him seeing the baby at all.. he's welcome to see the baby any time he wants.. i just dont think its right the baby has to be re locating or re adjusting to seeing one parent every six months or so.. but thanks for your advice so far.

With him being in the military, he cannot have full or partial custody of a child. The military does not currently allow it.

Be aware that child support and custody are two, separate legal issues.

I suggest that you get a good lawyer that has experience with family law. Good luck to you.

See an attorney. Normally I would say he has a right to see his kid but sounds like he's a loser. If he's dealing he likely also uses. I hope it doesn't affect the baby.

If there is the potential your baby's father was an addict you need to take that into account and inform your doctor.

cant speak legally for USA but it sound immoral to me. A child needs to know the father not just every 6 month. Surly any court will see this. You need to gather evidence if you intend to go the court way.

I think he will get part legal custody, but not physical custody. There is a BIG difference. He will then just get a "normal" visitation. Which of course in your case won't necessarily be normal because he is military. However, when he is state side, he will get the every other weekend and 2 weeks in the summer type deal. No judge will take your child away for 6 months at a time that would be crazy. DON'T let him scare you!! Be brave, and stay happy for your baby's sake...and happy mommy make for a happy baby!!
