Could legalized Marijuana help us or hurt us?

i think it should be legalized in small amounts, like 2 ounces at MOST, legal age of 18, just like Cigarettes, HOWEVEr i think it should be treated like Alcohol, if you smoke and drive the penalty is the same as if you were driving drunk

and to the answerer who said "cigarette companies would lose to much money" i SERIOUSLY doubt they would lose much, in fact, Cigarette Companies would probably make a killing off of it

plus it would add alot of tax revenue, which i think should be funneled directly to things like Education, Education above all else, then public wellness programs like Medicaid or whatever

Yes, we will all make money off of it. The consumer will not have to pay as much, the gov. will be able to tax it, good people will not have to go to jail because of it etc. Now, the power of what degrading a persons view and treating them as a crack pot is the example of what people on here are saying about the tea parties. The power of deception.

It would be good, but it probably won't happen because cigarette companies would lose too much money and are determined not to let it happen.

Definately would be good. We could tax the crap out of it and keep our money from going to black markets.

I'm a CA patient and I pay 10% taxes in Oakland at my dispensary for it. The gov't makes money off me right now.....

In this economic mess we are in yes, it can. Although i dont find pleasure in smoking weed it can help boost the economy over all insted of just boosting the drug dealer himself

The U.S will not legalize weed. Yes, everybody does it illegally, but the federal govt not going to make it OK just because of that. Having guns without a permit is illegal, yet many people still have them.
There's already controversy over medical weed, imagine what people would say if the govt sold week to everybody.
other nations would call us hypocrites and even try to persuade us to reverse the policy, through sanctions and other trade agreements.
just because it's done illegally doesnt make it ok. America is a nation of smugglers, that's what we've done throughout the history of our nation.
