Could we get in trouble for this?

We got a friend who is a security guard to go to someone's house and say "this is immigration enforcement! open up!" and the grandmother was there and she panicked and tried to run and fell and hit her head. Could we be sued? We didn't know she had any health problems.

Yes, apparently they have laws against impersonating immigration enforcement as well.

I thought otherwise until I googled it and got a lot of results.

Your friend will have to choose his words wisely and as long as he wasn't dressed like an officer or made no claims to be one, yelling immigration doesn't amount to impersonating an officer.

Yes. Impersonating a law enforcement officer is a felony.

Uh you should be more worried about the criminal charges. That would be akin to someone yelling fire in a crowded building. If people get hurt you're criminally and civilly liable. Not to mention morally, that was a horrible thing to do.

Yes, big time trouble....u cant tell people you are something u arent. Most security guards have the little man syndrome, and like to act tough, but are really pu$$y's. Grow up
