He didn't lie when he took the job. Under the new expenses system he has done nothing wrong. This is his lie from the previous expenses system coming back to haunt him.
However, he has done the honourable thing and stood down and this is the sort of politics we want to try and encourage as opposed being told by politicians they "have done nothing wrong." The coalition is new and there's not a lot for the media to talk about so this story's going to be circulating for a while. Public opinion of Mr Laws will be very low come the end. This is a very Jacqui Smith style expenses miss-claim, and that one turned ugly very quickly. |
