My personal opinion: Nay!
Reasons: I don't believe that punishing a criminal who committed murder or other heinous crimes with death proves any point or serves any real purpose. If you want them off the street, put them in jail for life. That does a better job of giving the person time to reflect on their actions than capital punishment ever could.
I think it's hypocritical as well--you've killed someone, now die. That won't teach anybody a lesson. |

Yeah, i'd honestly rather die than spend my life in prison. Just put those phsyco paths outta their misery. |

Yea, I'm a Texan. It works for us. Our crime rate is lower than other states in the US. |

I say yay.. Some people do not deserve the gift of life, nor belong in a society with normal people. |

angamb8844
 |
yea because these people have done something horrible and don't deserve to live. i think murders and rapists should have the death penalty. except when you kill someone as self defense. |
|

vanizzle
 |
yea, cause what if there is a serial killer who kills for fun. and then he ecscapes constantly he could kill a lot of more people. |
|

|
yes, cuz if sum1 killed a petrson they deserve to die too. |
|

|
yay, the people who deserve it shouldn't be walking the streets or making us pay tax money to keep them alive in prison for the rest of their lives. |
|

Tiggerrocks
|
yes because if we have bad people in the world they need to be killed...only if they committed murder though.....and jails need to be harder |
|

mskatiegirl01
 |
Yea...but, only if they have absolute proof that the convicted individual did in fact commit the crime, and only for violent crimes. |

Many Countries have a Death Penalty, some cut off your head, and some cut off your hand just for stealing... If you take someones life in cold blood, then your life should also end... |
|

Guardian Angel
|
yea. there are a lot of bad people in this world. if they do something really bad then they should get the sentence. |

I'm for it.
We should view the lives of innocents as something so precious that the ferocity of our response knows no limits.
If I had a complaint about the death penalty, it is that it is too humane.
Having a loved one murdered is life long pain, people who do such a thing should be snuffed, we should show our resolve in the face of killers and end their lives in return. |
|

Gramma
|
Yea, take down those pediphile murderers. |
|

LZ
 |
yea.
Not publically though.
Anyone in the right of mind that is able to kill another must experience what it feels like themselves, or else they havent returned the debt. Whats worse, even when the murderer is dead, the debt still wont be replaced because a life is not replaced. The loss of two lives is different from a loss of a life, and a loss of another for the resurrection of the first.
If one is able and has the desire to kill somebody, it is too great of a risk to let them go. You can never know if they changed or not. Who knows, maybe next time it will be your kids!!!
And if not the death penalty, then life in prison for sure.
Adding on....
There is no reason to go to the ten commandments. They are always broken, and wait! They were broken in the first place when the murdered committed the crime!!!!
Same with god. He is the only one allowed to kill us? Just think about that! Think about what that exactly means for a while and you will see right through the thin curtains of a large lie. |

yes for cold blooded murderer's, i believe if u take a life, u should forefit your own. |

I don't care about guilty murderers dying, but as long as there's even a millionth of one percent chance that someone innocent could be executed wrongly then I'll oppose the death penalty with every fibre of my being. I'm not convinced that millionth of a percent can ever be eliminated. |

I think death is too easy for certain criminals, torture them for life instead. |

Absolutely YES! To include that if it is a witnessed attack and there is no doubt of the guilt, the death sentence is carried out within the month. |
|

Casey H
 |
yea. Because people that go onto death row deserve to die for the crimes the committed such as murder and rape. If you take away the death penalty then the crime rate will go up in the U.S. because some people dont care about doing time in jail, so they could just kill someone and go to jail for a long time or for the rest of their lives and for some people, they really wouldnt care, especially people who dont have homes, at least the would have free food and shelter. The death penalty is not inhumane because the the people that murder others deserve the same punishment, and its a less harsher version of the way they killed someone, gun, stabbing, etc. |

I am for it all the way!!! I mean if they really are murderous would you want him to kill you too? If they catch him/her then they will obviously take his life because he took so many others.
I dont think this is fair that they have to give there lives to him when they were innocent and then not watch him die. The parents of some children who got murdered would want him to die.... its horrible, and some people just deserve this.
On the other hand, god said to forgive there trespasses... he also said .. thou shall not kill! What to do in this situaton is veryy hard to think about. I say go for it. |

Imaka

Nay, for a variety of reasons. Two wrongs do not make a right. And because dozens of people are released from death row every year when new evidence proves them innocent. Who was it who said, "Better that a hundred criminals go free than one innocent person be executed?" |
|

sarahn6842
 |
In the past they used to do public hangings and stone people and you know what? No one ever did anything wrong because they were scared to have the same fate..people in the past were smarter than what they thought, or well, what we thought.. |

I think there are people who don't deserve the right to live in our world, There are people that rape, kill and torcher innocent people who get thrown into prison and because our prisons are so over crowded, they can eventually be set free on "good behavior".
On the other hand there are innocent people sitting on death row.
So, I believe in the death penalty as long they are 100% positive its deserved! |

it depends on the crime |
