No. I would wish life in prison without parole. That way they would sit in a prison cell, surrounded by fear and isolation. that way they would have to choice but to sit and think about what they did for the rest of their life. But killing them would just do to their family what they had done to mine. And their family doesn't deserve that. |

I would want to kill them myself. But that is emotion. We must have laws. Why is it that most countries do not have the death penalty? It is said by experts that the death penalty does not deter a person from killing another person. |

i don't think so. i think id want to kill them myself right after i found out. but after the whole impact i don't think id want them killed. i haven't had this exact experience though. the closest thing is a friend's friend, who i'd only met a handful of times, was killed. i didn't want his murderer killed but i did want him put away. |

Probably (at least initially). I'm wondering if it would be best to allow the victims' closest family the exclusive choice of invoking the death penalty. That mechism seems to shift ethical considerations to the most appropriate parties. |

yes they would have it coming to them |

Not all victims family members think so. Some oppose the death penalty in principal (see www.journeyofhope.org and www.mvfr.org).
The death penalty can be very hard on families of murder victims. Many murder victim family members across the country argue that the drawn- out death penalty process is painful for them and that life without parole is an appropriate alternative.
Several murder victim family members who supported the death penalty asked the New Jersey Death Penalty Commission to replace the death penalty with life without parole. They testified that death sentences caused them more pain due to the endless appeals and constant press coverage. The commission found that abolishing the death penalty was in the interest of murder victim family members |

In SOME countries with certain social, political and economic structures, the death penalty may be the only answer to violent crimes.
If a country is considered a democracy or even as "civilized" then it may not be the right action (as in most European countries) BUT the specific society as a whole needs to have a certain level of ethics and morality.
In other countries (especially certain Kingdoms, Police States or Theocracies) it's a simple issue of an eye for eye or "if you live by the sword you die by the sword".
This policy may or may not cause fear in the heart of a prospective criminal and serve as a deterrent and even keep jails emptier, thus saving the tax payer a lot of money.
However, little evidence shows it to work in so-called "modern" countries.
The biggest problem lies with proof and evidence. If mankind wants to judge another persons life value, the proof has to be 100% conclusive.
Somebody has to push the button to execute.
Little proof exists that the death penalty works in the USA, but very much exist that it works in countries like Saudi or Egypt where violent crime is at an absolute minimum.
In my country the death penalty has been abolished due to our constitution and "human rights". However, violent crime has escalated out of control because there is no "fear factor". Respect for life is non-existent and the moral fiber has degenerated. Criminals will rather go to jail and have food and a bed.
In my specific society where you are murdered for a cell phone, the death penalty should be reintroduced, and if the Government held a referendum on it, it will definitely return
When ANY one is murdered in cold blood, they should be treated like the scum they are. My children and society should not be at their mercy and neither should they waste the oxygen and money of those with morality. And if one's own Government can't protect you, desperation creeps in and some even take the law into their own hands.
It is a very tricky question with various possibilities. The bottom line will be in which society you find yourself and what are your personal values... |

No I would not. I feel that they should live with the fact that they took a life. I want them to go to prison for the rest of their life so they can be tortured by the other inmates. Death is a way too easy way out. |

As a hindu I love cows and regard them as second mother to human race. You guys kill and eat cows. But Hindu Gods never really kill anybody, people just get recycled or reincarnated. They are given n number of chances until they pass their Karma trials and then get dissolved. See the point? |

Hard to say.. In my opinion I think a life behind bars is worse than death. I would rather be killed if I knew I had life. I suppose I would rather see someone do life instead! |

No. Life in prison is much, much worse than the death penalty. The only time Capital Punishment should be used is for a Serial Murderer or a terrorist.

Depends on the nature of the crime..I am a supporter of the death penalty but it's not always appropriate.... |

They better wish for the death penalty, because if they would get life in prison, I would bribe some of the other inmates to beat that person up while they are in prison. I am sure a carton of smokes would be enough for prisoner to do a few things for me on the inside.
If they were to get parolled, then they would have to deal with me on the outside. Enough so they would wish they were dead. |

Yes I would wish the death penalty because they can still have contact with there family. What I would like most is for them to leave the killer in confinement and leave them there to rot(suffer) until he was dead. |

No. 2 wrongs dont make a right, prison can actually be worse than death..plus putting people to death is more expensive than life behind bars |
