Do American schools theach their students that Amazon forest belongs to United States? Why?

I teach nature sciences to young children in the U.S.. Don't worry. The vast majority of American children and adults don't even know where Brazil or the Amazon are. The majority cannot even tell you were Canada or Mexico are, and that's just the educators. The public schools are in collapse here and our math and science scores cannot compete with Ethiopia's. The U.S. is comprised of two opposing viewpoints. Conservatives believe that dominion over nature means plunder. Liberals believe that dominion over nature means guardianship. There are people trying to get the message out that it is not right for the U.S. to think it's business interests can plunder whatever natural resources anywhere they want in the world. U.S. Conservatives are so much into a greedy barbarism of self-righteous plunder that they believe that if a nation, like Brazil, cannot rape, sack and pillage its own natural resources "properly", then it must forfiet all rights to the natural resouces and then U.S. developers can take it for themselves. They do that to their own neighbors in this land. Since Bush, we now have a huge problem with conservatives taking our homes away from us under greed-based plundering protection laws like imminent domain that conservatives have changed to their favor since Bush in which if a developer can make more money on the site where your home is, they can take it away from you and force you to move. Be VERY glad SOMEONE from here is trying to get across to kids that they should feel protective of your rain forest. There are conservatives here who lick their chops over your land's resources. ( You should see what these bums called "conservatives" can do to plunder our election process. Don't suppose you could get the message out for us liberals that we need U.N. election monitors next week?) Remember to support Brazilian leaders who support U.S. Democrats/Liberals because Republican/Conservative leadership here is historical fraught with bribery of forein leaders, who then leave the country and the U.S. conservative-based plundering of the nation is conducted, as in Irag. Be VERY wary of your leaders who support U. S. Republican/Conservative leadership.

No, that is crazy. my wife was a teacher for years, and never taught that. she taught world geography, and pretty much stuck to the facts. I would love to know where you heard that. let me guess, the same person told you that all americans hate all other countries, right?

No they do not. Why would they? P.S. I have worked at several schools and have never even heard that mentioned. We do try to impart knowledge about conservation and the importance of the rain forests and the worlds ecosystem. There is never any mention of who owns what. The Amazon forests are forrests of the Amazon.

Do you have any evidence of this? To me it sounds like anti-American propaganda. I can't think of one American school teacher in their right mind who would say something so ignorant.

American children are not taught that the Amazon belongs to them. American children are taught that we live in a global environment and that what one country does environmentally affects other countries.

The schools don't teach anything of the sort.
However, the government teaches that EVERYTHING in the world - especially oil - belongs to the US.

That's why we're fighting in Iraq right now - to clear out the natives and make it safe for rich Americans to vacation in the area.
