Do guns kill people or do people kill people?

If guns don't kill people then neither do drugs, Someone has to pull the trigger, but then someone has to smoke/snort/swallow/inject the drugs.

It's a pretty puerile argument either way really.

People usually want a gun because they feel safer with one than without. Whether that fear is justified is really the only point that matters.

Which is odd, because obesity related diseases kill far more people in this country than guns ever have, but you never hear a Liberal advocating banning Twinkies. They just want to tax the crap out of them.

that's a simple question to answer,most gun deaths are caused by suicide and then drug wars, the rest are on the bottom of the list for u.s. deaths. Autos kill more people then anything else about 6000 a year maybe we should ban cars wait a minute California might like that idea.

I have been a gun owner for over 20 years now and not any of my guns has ever gotten out and killed a human. I have never killed a human. I have read in the news that some people do kill other people through a wide variety of means.

It's been proven over and over again that, when people are allowed to arm themselves, the entire community is safer because the criminals don't know who has a gun. Why do you think people in NYC live behind five dead bolt locks? It's because the criminals know that no one is allowed to protect themselves.

Look up information on Kennesaw, GA, where residents are REQUIRED to have a gun. The crime rate there plummeted once that law was passed.

People kill people, guns just make it easier. With saying that, most gun deaths in the United States are largely attributed to gang & drug related violence (often black on black). These are individuals who aren't legally allowed to own guns by being convicted felons or living in large urban cities that make gun ownership difficult (and yet they still have guns).

For everyone else, events like Columbine, Virginia Tech etc. these are actually RARE events it's just that the news is either liberal (and wants to make law abiding American's think we have to do something about guns) or they are just after ratings and overplay these events. As someone else mentioned, amongst law abiding citizens who are legally allowed to own guns, auto accidents kill more people and I don't hear an out cry to ban cars.

People kill people and they can do it without guns. When people can't get guns, they can use a variety of other "weapons" -- a club, a knife, a bomb (we've all seen how effective that can be in recent years), ... People have been killing other people for thousands of years and getting rid of guns won't change that. People will always find ways to kill other people.

In spite of controls and safeguards, the "wrong" people (criminals and/or the mentally unstable) will still manage to get guns. If there comes a time when there are no more guns (doubtful at best), the rules will still apply only to the law abiding and the "wrong" people will still manage to get weapons.

If students at Virginia Tech were allowed to carry guns for self-defense, I don't know how many of them would have been able or willing to use the gun they carried, but it might only have taken one.

Banning guns just from good guys would save a lot of lives
Stop bad guys from carrying guns with a minimum 10 years just for carrying them
