Do i need a lawyer.........?

someone in my neighborhood has filed a complaint against me that i trespassed on their property. what happened is, a dog got loose in the neighborhood and wound up on their property. i went on their property to retrieve the lost dog and while there an argument broke out between me and the property owner. he is claiming "I kept asking her to leave but she wouldn't". it is a violation, not a misdemeanor. what is a violation and do i need a lawyer? i have to appear before the town court, not even the city court or anything. i am so embarrased!! please help, OMG!!!!!! dying inside!

Lawyers can be expensive, so you should avoid hiring one if possible. For a minor charge like yours, you should be able to appear in court and represent yourself. The strategy is to be calm, very polite and respectful, and as sweetly as possible, explain and tell your side of the story. Do NOT get angry, sarcastic, or untruthful. Try to evoke sympathy without appearing to beg.

A violation is more than likely a city ordinance that is not that big of a deal. Depending on the size of your county, your local rules of governance are probably posted online.

You ought to just call a criminal attorney, and they will more than likely give you some free advice as long as you're quick and to the point.

I am not a lawyer but honestly you should not even get fined for this. I would simply tell them I retrieved my dog from there yard. Because what were you suppose to do let the dog wonder and maybe bite someone. You were protecting everyone by getting your dog on a act of passion for others safety. Then I would turn around and say the guy harassed you on getting your dog so it seems like he wanted someone to get bite. I would argue about making sure you got your dog before nething could happen to the dog or someone. And that guy seemed not to care about your concern

It is obvious, just reading, that it was a lack of communication and an overreaction of your neighbor.The Case should nÂ´t even deserve attention of Law. Just in case things get worst ask now for advice with several attorneys, some will help you for free, just in case. If they exists be in contact with your witnesses. Take care of that the incident will not be added in any criminal record. You must result absolved of charges.
