Not where I live.
People really need to check up on the laws, most states do not require a permit or a license to purchase. Concealed carry laws do exist in most states. But it is a state-by-state law and people really need to check their own states. |

In most jurisdictions you can own a hand gun with out registering it. But in order to carry it you need a permit. It is controlled by state law.
You need to check out the law yourself. You should be able to get in from your state government web site or the NRA or even AAA(yes AAA the Auto club people, have info about carrying from state to state)
Obey the law, but if you carry, know how to use it. |

You need a drivers license... Or some other form of legal ID...
You need a concealed weapon permit to carry one that is concealed but in Arizona you can keep one on your hip 24/7.
It is a myth that your guns need to be "Registered".
If you are over the age of 18, have a clean bill of mental health, and no police record then you are good to go...
Just make sure you know what the LOCAL laws are... Can you get a concealed weapon permit? Can you own handguns? Auto? Shotguns?

Despite what the unthinking horde here says, it depends on where you live.
Up in Yankee-land, or on the Left Coast, probably yes.
Down where I live, no.
Anywhere in the country you will have to do the federal paperwork, and the background check, etc. but other than that no. |

That depends on what "for a handgun" means.
You don't need special license to own, possess, or transport, excepting for places that aren't really part of the United States - like DC, NYC, Chicago, and parts of the PRC (people's republic of california).
Most everywhere, you would need a license to carry concealed on your person or in your vehicle.

Yes you do. In case something happens it will have your finger prints on it. Why not register it and have it for your protection when needed. If someone steals it then you have to report it stolen so that it doesnt come back on you. |

If it's an air handgun, (e.g Powered by springs, CO2, compressed air, ) then no. I'm also pretty sure you need to be over 18 for one, what do you want to use it for lol? Though if it's a non BB that could blast people's brains out, you probably need a license...and a good lawyer.
*Editing* If you want to have it as a hobby, and shoot at targets, I think it would be better if you bought a BB, you could buy a good one at buy.com for like under $50. |
