Feel bad abt ur experience with such doctors. I am so sorry.
But this is not a good basis to generalize. I can also cite many examples when a doctor did take great care of the patients.
I myself was once in one of the hospitals for 2 weeks and one of the doctors got me fruits and flowers. Although she asked me not to talk about it as it was against the hospital ethics.
But she did that because I was requesting fruits to be included in my daily diet, as I do not eat meat and the hospital could'nt care less. |

No I don't think they do it just for the money, but they deserve their money. If you are envious, simply apply yourself and give up years of your life to become one.
Probably most of the world's doctors don't earn anything like the money they earn in the west. |

would not think so .they have to study and train for many years on a low salary before they become qualified ..!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

So, if it's so easy to become a doctor, and it's so lucrative what are you waiting for?
Get yourself on the medical gravy train!
What's stopping you, if it's so simple and so well paid - why aren't we all training to be doctors? |

What is wrong with trying to get a good deal?
Who wants to pay full price?
People who aren't doctors ask for a break on pricing all the time. |

Doctor's salaries are decreasing. Read about managed medical care and its effect on doctor's ability to charge what they want and otherwise manage their practices.
Not sure how your description related to the original question anyway. Both cases seem to show the doctor was not able to afford full price! |
|

I don't believe it!

If they're in it to get paid loads of money, why are they asking for discounts and deals? I suspect these comments were made in jest and you don't see the funny side. |

Maybe not entirely. But considering the hours that young interns work, and the people that they have to abide, I would certainly agree that the potential for income must be a huge motivating factor in their career choice. Having said that, there must also be some degree of wanting to help their fellow man present in their souls. |

My Cousin is in debt of about £50,000 for training to be a doctor and he isn't in it for the money its what he wants to do. Also its easy to say for the money, i do my job for the good money, many people as well do it
criticizing people is easy i could criticize for asking a patronising question |

Contrary to popular belief, doctors do not make the huge salaries your citing . . . My husband spent over a quarter of a million dollars on his education . . . adjusted for inflation it would ball park about 400k today . . .how much did you spend on yours? Why shouldn't he reap the rewards? How much do you pay in liability insurance? Do you loose sleep at night because some crazy patient may sue you for everything your worth? I highly doubt the answer to any of these questions is yes . . . so piss off. |

I doubt that they would put themselves through 8+ years of schooling and training (which is incredibly expensive in itself) just to make a lot of money. It is a ton of work and a ton of commitment, and most people that begin medical school don't complete it.
Just because they're doctors doesn't mean they're rich. They have student loans, families, and other expenses just like the rest of us. Just because you have a lot of money doesn't mean you can't look for ways to save money occasionally.
My husband does computer work for a living, and no matter where he goes, when people hear what he does, will say "I've been having computer problems, what do you think it is?" Even though he gets paid to do this at work, people expect him to solve their problems for free, which he often does.
It isn't just doctors that are looking for help from people in other professions. Its everyone. And I personally don't think there's anything wrong with helping other people if you are strong in an area and they aren't. Thats what being a community is all about. |

I expect some people do do it for the money, but they go through a lot of training so must care about people to do that.
Maybe they just live to their means like most people do |

You are right. I would not bother seeing one if I were you.
(And instead let people who will appreciate the service they get be treated instead.) |

I think there's a lot of grief that students have to go through to become doctors, and big student loans. Eventually they can become wealthy, but it's a round-about way to make money, if being wealthy is your only goal. |

Not all doctor's are in it for the money though a lot of them are. Some are in it purely to help people or because someone they loved had or has some kind of illness and they want to find the cure. Sad to say even some of the doctors that go into becoming a doctor to help end up doing it for the money. I believe that there are a few other occupations who should be paid way more then they are...i.e. teachers without them we wouldn't have doctors or lawyers. |

Some do it for prestige, others because there parents kind of force it on them, some do it with good intentions but as the money starts poring in and the country club membership offers knock on there doors, it becomes about money and status. |

Yes they are only in it for the money, most couldn't care less about their patients. I haven't visited a Doctor in years and have no intentions of doing so, they are just pen pushers now and are in it for what they can get especially from the drug companies. |

I think they start out with a mission, but after so many years and so many thousands of dollars sunk into their education they get tired and are ready to start those prescriptions to get that money flowing in... |

Doctors should not command the respect of years gone by. The new ones are a very different breed. Money is everything to them. |
