Heck yeah, it p*sses me off. But honestly, what p*sses me off more is that our government isn't really going to do anything about it. Oh, they'll fluff their feathers up and SAY they're "ashamed," or that they're "upset," but in the long run, both parties get money from these same companies when it's election time, so who do you think they're gonna backup for in the long run...Not us, the lowly American public.
Sheesh...and this is WHY precisely, we need term limits in the Senate and Congress cause they're the instigators of most of this mess that has been going on for YEARS!!!!!!!!!! |

Not as upset as I am that congress is giving itself an automatic raise for doing such a great job overseeing the TARP payment to AIG. |

The whole situation is annoying. It is like you are a parent with an adult child who needs some money to keep their house from being foreclosed on. But instead of paying his mortgage you find out he bought his friends beer. |

I think they are looking for the open door to step in and run these banks, this was done with full awareness of the outcome, bigger and badder government. |

Yes, the bonuses do upset me. I guess for the big dogs life goes on as usual regardless of what happens in the rest of the world. I understand the exec had contracts in place that dictate their pay and contract law says they are entitled to their bonuses. The gov't is bringing it up because the press is bringing it up, and because the press is bringing it up the citizens are contacting their representatives and complaining. |

I think it is too late to be concerned so I am not going to worry about it. This has effectively taken the focus off of the stimulus bill and Obama's spending spree. We need to get it back to those issues. |

everyone in a position of power (government/ businesses/brokers/banks) is trying to fill their pockets before the bottom falls out of the economy. |

we do need some government influence. I don't care if you do a great job (which these AIG exes did not) no one, I repeat no one is worth millions in bonuses. My company just had massive lay offs. 2 weeks later we hire a new VP with an 11 million dollar signing bonus. That is 11 million before he even walks in the door. Do you know how many jobs for how many years we could have saved with 11 million. Point is maybe the public pressure will force AIG and its executives to think twice about collecting these bonuses. I know my husbands company's big wigs all agreed on no bonuses and no raises. ceo even took a cut so they could avoid lay offs. AIG needs to take note. I know I personally will not do any business with them.
By the way it was under Bush that the banks/insurance co. were bailed out the 1st time |

It pisses me off, but the LAST thing we need in this country is class warfare.
Edit: Do you remember it was the BUSH administration that authorized the original bailout in November?
Get your facts straight...and don't blame all problems on one person. |

Nope!!!! First, thery were authorized by Chris Dodd. Two I would want to keep these folks happy , they know were all the secrets are hidden. Plus this mauy be another branch of AIG. What if their salary was bonus based then, this bounus is equal to other employees salaries to we cut them too?? |

I don't think we did agree to those bonuses before hand. It seemed to me they were told they couldn't use the money frivolously, and it had to be put into getting back on their feet. At least that's what the public heard or wanted to hear. I remember thinking "How are we going to assure that the money is well-spent?" I simply can't fathom how these folks can just take our money to provide bonuses, when people are out of work, and struggling so much. Just looking at the AIG headquarters makes me sick. It's so new and luxurious. They say their "bonus" is really salary. I don't believe that for a second. My "salary" has been cut back, so why would that excuse hold water? Too many people in Washington are used to the good life, I don't know if they are incompetent, or very, very smart. I feel I have no control at all over what's happening. And I don't know how we can get that back, if we ever had it to start with. |

The rush to pass the bailout package through did not allow much consideration for it's content. Yes this situation does upset me because these crooks continue their lavish life style while most of us can't afford a decent vacation. They should be forced to repay that money. |

You have it wrong. It is private business that has control of them. It doesn't upset me very much because I am desensitized to Washington thievery after witnessing it my whole life. |
