Dear Friend,
Yes, marijuana should be legal. It is a mild narcotic with no addictive properties. Money spent in a futile attempt to stamp out weed could be directed towards more pressing social problems.
Your Friend,

Marijuana should be legalized, regulated, and taxed.
not to be sold to minors under penalty of law...same as alcohol and tobacco.
In Washington State State...if I get caught buying cigarettes for minor...I can be fined 500 bucks($)....
Don't know what the monetary fine is for providing minors(under 18) with alcohol...but...if that kid gets drunk and gets in car and kills or injures somebody...the person that provided the alcohol is in very deep DOO DOO indeed.
There might be a spike in marijuana use shortly after legalization...were that to happen.
but
I think that anybody(and I mean adult) who is going to smoke marijuana already has.
Marijuana does not cause blackouts.
doesn't make you want to fight.
doesn't make person maudlin or repetitive.
nor does it cause tunnel vision.
you don't go into a detox and see person in four point restraints and delirious from marijuana.
In Seattle.....
personal marijuana use is the Police Departments lowest priority. Call it de facto legalization. Just don't be blatant.
I was on bus...in the back when teen fired up bowl of marijuana.
In about thirty seconds two plain clothes policeman confronted him. They took his personal info etc etc and that was about it. Even though the kid was obviously under 18.
The cops have bigger fish to fry...
like violent criminals |

If we were to put drugs in order of which are more dangerous, and base the legalization of these drugs on this scale, then Marijuana would be the first to become legal. Alcohol, and many of the prescription and televised drugs (Cialis, Viagra), would be at the bottom. But, that's not the world we live in. Personally, I'm fine the way it is. Legalizing Marijuana would put it in the hands of the Govt. and they'd just ***** it up. |

Marijuana should not be legalized. My mother and father ARE addicted so i know it should not be. Marijuana has changed my life. I don't do any drugs cuz i don't want to be like them at all. its wrong to allow that kind of drug to take over your mind and the way you think. My dad ended up going to prison for drugs and he deserved it. I love my parents but its not right to do it in front of your kids granted they get it no matter what legally or illegally but legally they will get more of it and not feel so guilty about it. |

Yes and I strongly agree with francesois's response! Money can be used for far more important things! It also is wonderful for the environment ex: grows faster than trees for paper, oxygen, etc. |

Yes, lets get rid of Mr. Fox, make Mexico the 51ST state, call it Tequila and make marijuana legal there, and all drugs while were at it, and put the drug dealers, smugglers, and the whole cartel out of business |

I don't personally smoke marijuana anymore(though I did when I was younger). But ..yeah it should be legal. It can be taxed, less work for law enforcement, and it can be regulated. |

yes, because if it was under government control, only politicians & rich business owners could afford it & they could get high & quit sending our young people to die in foreign countries for personal vendettas, quit compiling my ( & everyone else's )phone calls, quit,in general, messing with our life, liberty, & pursuit of happiness.plus, there would be lot less killing 'cause everyone knows politicians can't shoot straight. |

No, look up the Opium War in China. China legalized opium and went from a huge surplus to a huge debt that has hurt them to this day because of thier addiction on opium. |

NO! It's terrible. For one thing, it's highly addictive. When teens try it out, it would be chaos. I'm sure you've heard of the Meth problems and now there's the cough syrup issue. Make that legal, and the US will go down the drain in addictive drugs. |

My brother thinks it should not be legalized because it wouldn't be fun for him to smoke anymore. |

Yes if the government ever did anything right it would be to legalize weed. It would cut down the usage rate...and the prices!! |

No I think that any brain altering drugs should be illegalized. I smoked pot from age 14-33 and it causes your immune system and your brain waves to change and can even cause serious diseases like Neuropathy, Emphysema, Cancer, and just screw up your life. Your body can only handle so much poison going in then it can't expel anymore. Yes all drugs that are not approved and even some that are will kill you. Only eat whats natural and stay away from people that do drugs, or try to help them, because it not only leads to bad health but bad behaviors, like stealing, not going to school, and being unproductive. Believe me I know! |
