Do you believe illegal immigrants should be given scholarships to college?

I disagree, there are a lot of immigrants that go through the correct channels and become American citizens that deserve to go to college. Illegals are just that, we need to enforce the laws that are already in force in our country when it comes to immigration. If you are middle class and white in the U.S. you can bet you will be paying for a college education out of your pocket (we are currently in debt for about $60,000, and it will be closer to &100,000) when my son gets done with school. If they want to get a college education let them pay for it just like everyone else.

I am a parent, my kids did not get to go to college (even with a mensa son) as I had no money and no support.
It will make me very ! angry.!!

if these people choose to live in our counties rather than their own, they could atleast respect the laws and get legal status...give the scholarships to people who were born here who's families havebeen here legally for generations...all you are doing by giving them scholarships is sending out the message saying it's ok to come here illegally and hey if you get away with it for long enough we'll even pay for your children's education..

I don't believe they should, in fact I don't believe they should get any Government benefits, until they either get their Citizenship or at least begin the process. Maybe after the process begins they can slowly receive Government benefits.
My biggest problem is why don't AMERICAN Citizens and Children get Scholarships, why should the illegals get benefits over our own people?

If they have been here since they were too young to make a choice, then I think i do agree they should be allowed to participate in this country's society, just like any other....

Its not there fault there parents pulled them overseas illegally, and it should not be up to us to tell them to go 'back to there own country' when they are just as much a part of the society as us... However i understand this is a touche subject for some, as it is not this country's fault either... But I do think it is our job as human beings, to look after other human beings, so....

Of course my opinion is only granted that they have become a proper part of society, as in they should be properly immigrated into the system, pay taxes ect.....

Apart from that though, If they are smarter than me and they weren't to know any better when they came here, they have a job, they study, they properly contribute more to society than some of the dole bludgers around, then sure, let them participate in it all! Granted they do the right thing by that country now that they are old enough to know what actions they are taking.....

I do not agree with this...illegal immigrants should not be given scholarships...or any other benefit that is set aside for legal residents of the US. If they want to go to college, let them fill out the freakin' paperwork and become a LEGAL citizen!!

I think they should be given two free benefits from our government.
1. A free bus ride home
2. A very nice impenetrable wall to come look at next time they want to cross the border.

If and when they first guarantee scholarships for all the deserving children who are here legally ( and I do mean all) then I could maybe see my way clear to helping out some of the illegal children. Not all, not even most just the top 1 or 2%. And then only if they have been here since kindergarten. And they have to be able to prove it. In other words every child is in college who wants to be and then maybe help the illegals.

Absolutely not! My kids won't get a free pass to college why should some illegal?! Their kids shouldn't be allowed to go to any school here, including kindergarten. They should all be sent back home. I'm tired of paying taxes to support them.

Scholarships should be given on the basis of exactly one metric; scholarship. If all schools did this we'd see kids try harder...and more importantly we'd have more parents who actually pay attention to, and help, their kids in school.

As far as I'm concerned, if a kid is smart and gets straight A's, stays out of trouble and clean of drugs, when that kid graduates from college he/she should be granted permanent resident status.

Those kids that don't...kick them back to their country of origin, or, if they were born here, expunge the record of their existence and dump them on Hugo Chavez.

I agree wtih this. Immigrants should have the same oppertunities to get an education as any American citizen. By getting an education, they will become more productive citizens of the United States.

What is it about the word "illegal" the politicians don't understand? Why give something special to someone who has not earned it? If an illegal is of college age, they can become a citizen. There is a process. I believe in the scholarship idea, but i don't believe you should give something to someone who has not gone though the process. It creates a further drain on a system that is in deep trouble financially. Giving something legal to an "illegal" makes the "illegal" seem legitimate.
