I'm glad people have finally caught on the fact that there are two Americas, one for the rich and one for the poor.

Yes i do. I think she was let off easy.

It was said that she was released from jail due to mental conditions. However, I am sure ALOT of others in jail, with charges simular to hers are very sad and depressed, yet I don't see any of them getting out of the jail early.

I am sure Paris will also have her "house arrest" for a few days as well. I don't see them making her stay home bound for 40 days.

This shows that if one has money, then they may not be above the law, but then they are surely next to it!!

Proves that money can buy happiness and in the case of Paris I hope it also buys a chauffeur so there will be no more DUI

Yes, if she has a rash , she should have to get treatment at the jail, like all the other inmates.

No,the bitsh could have infected other convicted women doing their time there.Imagine if she would have bite them.
Sheriff was wise after inspecting (before else)what she flashed to for special treats...to get her sorry bony *ss out of there and back to the suicidal Life she is heading too.

I only hope she don't drag another person life while driving to her final waste....

Well, they said she was to sick!!! but not sick enough to get drunk and drive.
Of course this shows how the system works. If you have money you get "justice" done.. Freedom cost money that's why jails are full with middle class and the poor. This is really a shame!!!! Politicians are the ones who ask for tough sentences and they are the first ones to break the laws and get no time. This is really upsetting, a slap in the face for all Americans because now they know that if they do not have money , they can end up in jail for years and for the same offense.

Bad bus driving wolf
Yes, she displayed an arrogant and cavalier attitude towards the law, endanger the public, and gets 3 days in jail out of 45 ... I expect every drunk driver who is up for a month in jail will be asking for a 50% reduced sentence, a day in jail, and the rest to be for home detention now, and I just can't see any logical reason a judge could refuse.

As for the reduction to 23 days for good behavior, my understanding is that is for your good behavior INSIDE the jail, not outside the jail.
So from now on, if you get arrested, you have to behave as a model citizen, and when you go to court you can present evidence that you have amended your former ways and expect a reduction of 50% in the sentence.
Again, what grounds does a judge have for refusing? I can't see any.
The only consolation is that someone, hopefully Paris, has had to pay this very expensive lawyer ... or did she get legal aid as well? Oh, please, don't tell me if she did. That would just make the US justice system a laughing stock for the rest of the world.

100 percent! This was THE water cooler conversation at work today. I personally I think it's outrageous. Granted, I thought the original sentence was a bit harsh (45 days, something like that), but 3 days total?! I saw in the news that she was released because she was emotionally unstable/upset. It's jail, it's not supposed to be candyland. Do you really think that all of the other inmates are jumping for joy, waking up each day in a bleak cell? If only all of the other inmates had the power to be removed from jail after serving 1/10th of their sentence...It only proves that justice is not for the rich and powerful.

When you refer to justice system, which system are you referring to? The Los Angeles county system? The California State system, which? The criminal justice system isn't 1 system, it's hundreds of systems, each city, county, state, has it's own justice system. Then there's the federal justice system. They are not all controlled the same. Take a Criminal Justice course and you will see what I mean. This flaw is a flaw in the Los Angeles county justice system, although overall in most justice systems the more affluent people do get away with much more than the working, or poor class.

Yes.

And there are exceptions, not a divided country for the rich and the poor. When you are educated you can beat the system too. Hilton paid for that service and won. If you are poor you need to read the law and find the cases her attorney used as prior rulings to win - for yourself. The system is fair, it is just, we sometimes have to work for ourselves to get what we want when we don't have money.

That said, Hilton should be the very case that releases a ton of men and women from jail. Why? The 3-Strikes law applied to Hilton, and she was released and served only a few days. Do you get my drift? This is now the case or ruling that seals somebody's release in stone.

Now that it is in your face. Will you use it to get out of jail? Or will you lazily sit on your butts and rot in those cells?

Hilton has paid to set somebody free, like it or not.

mari_ziegler
ha, of course, it just shows that money can buy anything...or of course there could have been other forms of payment...ahem...one night in paris? lol

maybe this will wake people up to the fact that the laws do not apply to the wealthy in this country. or the connected. but i doubt it will make any difference at all.

i think it is just simply pathetic. She deserves the same punishment every other person gets for the crimes she commited. + i dont like her

Christina M
No - I'm sorry I don't. Anyone else caught doing the same thing would have only gotten a few days jail time and probation plus a fine. Her sentence was harsh for who she was and not for what she did. No one gets that much time for driving on a suspended license on a first offense.
